Lime, also known as lime, lime, lime or sour lime, is a plant that (presumably) originated in Southeast Asia and belongs to the rue family. Lima came to Europe with the Moors in the 13th century. First it came to Spain, then it spread to the southern part of the continent. Currently, the biggest producers of this juicy, sour fruit are: Argentina, India, Iran, Turkey, Mexico and Brazil.
Lime is an extremely healthy fruit, it is a source of vitamins - A, groups B, C and E - and minerals - calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, phosphorus and potassium. Regular consumption of these green relatives of the lemon can boost the immune system, help with diarrhea and constipation, improve mood and support weight loss.
Lime is primarily known as an ingredient and drink decoration, but also makes a great addition to lemonade or sorbet.
