DESCRIPTION
Calcium chloride is used as an additive to wood and stone preservatives. It is a component of adhesives and mastics, a coagulant in the manufacture of rubber and a finishing agent for cotton fabrics that makes them non-flammable. It is an agent that protects dirt roads from excessive dusting and is used as a drying and dehydrating agent in the production of organic solvents and gases. Calcium chloride is a component that protects coal and ore from freezing and as an additive in starch pastes. Calcium chloride's ability to liberate significant amounts of heat while forming hydrates has found practical APPLICATION in removing snow and ice from roads, bridges, railroad crossings, etc.
