It is found in the southern part of North America (Texas, Mexico), Central America, the northern part of South America, Spain and Portugal. It is a rich source of vitamin C. Malipighia glabra fruit extract 100 g contains 1400-2500 mg of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid).
