The horsetail is one of the oldest plants on earth. Horsetail decoction is a rich source of vitamins and minerals, most notably silicon, an element that builds body cells. Silicon is very important for the health of hair, skin and nails. The positive effect of silicon on the kidneys, adrenal glands, heart and blood has also been proven. Horsetail extracts also help maintain proper functioning of the urinary system and relieve skin irritation. Horsetail reduces hair loss and nail brittleness, improves skin condition. It has antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory properties and accelerates wound healing. Due to the presence of flavonoids and caffeic acid derivatives, horsetail has a moderate diuretic effect. It consists in increasing the amount of water excreted by the body without disturbing the electrolyte balance.
Field horsetail (Equisetum arvense L.) is a perennial species belonging to the horsetail family. It can be found in its natural form all over the world. The falling (summer) shoot is green, branched and slightly reminiscent of a Christmas tree. The leaves are small, collected in whorls. Due to the high content of silica in the leaves and herb, after crushing the plant, we hear a characteristic creaking. The sporangic (spring) shoot is brown, brown and unbranched. At the tip of the shoot is a sporangic ear that dies off after spore maturity. The pharmaceutical raw material is gangue harvested from June to September, which is then dried at a temperature of around 60°C.

APPLICATION
Horsetail, herbs and supplements with their silicic acid-rich ingredients supplement the lack of micronutrients. Horsetail has a positive effect on the condition of connective tissue and bones, supports the work of the liver - detoxifies, helps with neuralgia and arthritic pain, prevents atherosclerosis, lowers blood pressure.
Horsetail is taken as an ingredient in preparations and dietary supplements and as an infusion of dried herbs. Few people interested in "wild" cooking use horsetail inflorescences (saplings) for cooking in their homes.
