Organic Agar is a natural, odorless gelling agent. This substance greatly swells in the intestines, increasing the volume of its contents, due to which it has a slightly laxative effect. The product can be used instead of gelatin. Powdered agar perfectly dissolves in water at a temperature of about 90 ° C. It freezes into a gel form at 30-40 ° C, thanks to which it solidifies even without cooling. It is a product of natural origin obtained from the thallus of red algae grown mainly off the coast of Japan. Their production requires repeated drying and thermal treatment. The nutrient agar consists mostly of galactose, a sugar that is difficult for humans to digest. In industry, gelatine agar is used, for example, to produce candies with a foam or gel consistency. In pharmacy it is used as a swelling agent and tablet disintegrator. Agar is naturally rich in fiber, vitamins K, E and B6, folate and omega-3 acid. Unlike gelatin, it can be reheated several times.
