Spirulina is one of the oldest life forms on earth. It is a natural blue-green microalgae named for its spiral shape. Spirulina appeared naturally 3 billion years ago without the need for organic fertilizers from other plants or animals. Experts say Spirulina has played a huge role in producing oxygen in the atmosphere. This algae is currently considered to be the healthiest and most nutritious food on earth. Spirulina contains up to 60-70% protein (much more than beef, chicken or soy), 8 exogenous and 10 endogenous amino acids, high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), beta-carotene, linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, vitamin B12, iron, Calcium, phosphorus and nucleic acids - DNA and RNA. It is extremely rich in chlorophyll and phycocyanins and has a special protein complex found only in the structures of cyanobacteria.
