The common ficus, also known as the common fig, carican fig, fig tree or fruit fig tree, is a species of tree or shrub that belongs to the mulberry family. The main purpose of ordinary fig cultivation is its fruits - figs. They can be processed as well as eaten raw. They are among the dried fruits and are used as an addition to cakes. In Poland, mainly dried and pressed figs with a characteristic amber color are available. They are suitable for snacks, preserves, jams and preserves. You can make compote out of it. In southern Europe, fig wine is made from it. Dried and roasted figs are used as a coffee substitute. Dried figs are a natural source of calcium, magnesium and iron.
