Muira Puama ( Ptychopetalum olacoides) is a plant of the moth family. It occurs naturally in the form of a shrub or small tree in South America, the Amazon and Orinoco basins. Only the root is used to make the extracts and is mostly light brown to pinkish brown in hard, fibrous slivers. The root is odorless and has a slightly tart taste.
