Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and lutein are a combination of nutrients that support eye and brain health.
- DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that is essential for brain development during pregnancy and early childhood. It is also associated with improved heart health and better eyesight. DHA is naturally produced by our bodies in small amounts, but in order to get the right amount, it must be ingested or supplemented from foods such as cold-water fish.
- Lutein is a valuable carotenoid, ie a pigment produced by plants that gives fruits and vegetables a yellow to red hue. In the human body, it is found in the same regions of the brain and eye as DHA, underscoring their synergistic effects.
