Leek (Allium ampeloprasum L.) is a biennial species of the Amaryllis family (garlic subfamily), native to Asia Minor. This tasty and healthy vegetable was known and cultivated in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome and came to Poland from Italy in the Middle Ages thanks to Queen Bona.
Leeks are a plant rich in vitamins - A, from group B , C, E and K - and minerals - calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. Contains few calories, only about 30 per 100g. Its regular consumption can have slimming, detoxifying, hypotensive and disease-preventing properties.
To make the leek easier to digest, it is worth heating it.
