The beneficial effects of Bifidobacteria are lowering of pH in the gut, increased production of short chain fatty acids and vitamin production, stimulation of the gut thereby increasing the efficiency of digestion and absorption. It can also increase immunity by providing a medium for the growth of beneficial gut flora. It also affects the bioavailability of certain minerals such as magnesium, calcium, zinc and iron.
