Mangold, also called leaf beet, chard or spina beet, is a variety of the common beet. Native to the Mediterranean region, it is grown for its edible leaves.
Swiss chard is characterized by its colorful stalks, its delicious taste and a wide range of valuable nutrients. The high content of easily digestible protein, as well as the above-average amount of vitamins - A, B, C, E and K - and minerals - potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and phosphorus - make it a recommended ingredient in a vegetarian diet. With all the abundance of health-promoting substances, spinach beetroot is characterized by an extremely low calorie content - only about 20 per 100 g.
A delicious addition to salads, dumplings, casseroles and soups.
