Sunflower oil is the second most consumed vegetable oil (after rapeseed oil) by Poles. It is made from sunflower seeds using a cold-press process. It is characterized by a light yellow color and a mild taste and smell. Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant and is responsible for properly maintaining proper permeability of cell membranes. Consumption of sunflower oil, which is rich in vitamin E, protects against coronary artery disease and atherosclerosis. It is excellent as an addition to vegetable salads and mayonnaise.
