Nori are dried, roasted, and pressed sheets of edible seaweed made from a species of red seaweed called porphyra (Porphyra yezoensis, Porphyra tenera). These algae are grown on numerous offshore farms in Asia. the largest of these is the producer Japan. Nori contains many beneficial minerals including iodine, magnesium, potassium, iron, copper, zinc, cobalt and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, niacin and C.
