Corn is a valuable grain whose properties are particularly appreciated by people struggling with the problem of celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Its grains are an excellent source of starch. Corn is a source of valuable nutrients that, when combined with a balanced diet and targeted physical activity, can improve our health and daily well-being. The yellow grains of this grain are a good source of fiber and beta-glucans. Therefore, they can not only lower blood pressure, but also lower cholesterol and thus help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases in the future.
Much has been said about the positive effects of corn on glucose and insulin metabolism and for the proper functioning of the intestines. Interestingly, corn kernels also contain large amounts of flavonoids and plant sterols. Therefore, introducing this grain into a balanced diet can help reduce the risk of developing cancer in the future. In addition, regular consumption of corn can protect our eyesight from degeneration and also make us feel full for a long time.
However, it is worth knowing that in addition to the heat treatment process, this is especially the case when using a microwave and unhealthy fats, corn kernels lose most of their health-promoting properties. Adding excessive amounts of salt or sweet additives, such as B. caramel to popcorn, can also be detrimental to our health.
