Magnesium is the eighth most common element on the planet. It is a building block of most living organisms. A daily human diet should contain 300 mg of this ingredient for women and 350 mg for men. Unfortunately, scientific research among Europeans and Americans has shown that a large part of our society does not get enough of this nutrient from the diet.
Natural sources of magnesium are pumpkin seeds, wheat bran, wheat germ, kidney beans, soybeans and buckwheat. There is also a mineral in our favorite products such as cocoa, bananas, almonds and hazelnuts. Since magnesium is a component of chlorophyll (a plant pigment), green vegetables can also be a good source.
According to scientific publications, the absorption of magnesium from the gastrointestinal tract is about 50%. The wide distribution of this mineral suggests that it is not difficult to obtain from the diet, but scientific research suggests the opposite phenomenon. Therefore, it is worth focusing on the intake of this element from food, since the effects of its deficiency can have a very negative effect on the body as a whole.
