Soluble fiber extracted from the root of the konjac plant.
DESCRIPTION :
Glucomannan is a natural, water-soluble fiber derived from the konjac root ( Amorphophallus konjac ), also known as the freak. This plant originally comes from Africa and Asia, but is now also widespread in the Caribbean and Latin America. More than 600 species of yams are known, 95% of which are still grown in Africa.
Glucomannan makes up about 40% of the dry weight of the root, which is native to Southeast Asia. It has long been used in herbal blends and traditional foods like tofu and noodles.
Glucomannan has a unique ability to absorb water and is one of the stickiest fibers.
