- contains a high silicon content
- used in the paper industry
- used as insulating material
- good filter medium
Diatomaceous earth, kieselguhr is an organogenic rock consisting mainly of unicellular algae shells, i.e. diatoms. It may contain residues of other organisms, boulder quartz, as well as calcite, glauconite, clay substances and iron compounds.
Diatomaceous earth is white or yellowish white, light-colored, soft, dusty, porous and not compact. It is formed as sediment from cold lakes and seas. It is widely used in various industries, mainly as a filter, drainage, bleaching, refractory, thermal, electrical and acoustic insulation, as an absorbent for liquid fertilizers, in the manufacture of paints, artificial stones, water glass, varnishes, etc., as well as in the paper industry, cleaning and polishing.
INGREDIENTS
diatomaceous earth. Class F50.
