Lactic acid is used to regulate acidity. In addition, it is used in the tanning and textile industries, as well as in beekeeping. This substance is contained in sour milk and is also formed in the muscles during exercise. The presence of lactic acid in milk starts the coagulation of proteins. This process is used extensively in the manufacture of dairy products, including cheese, yoghurt, kefir and other dairy derivatives.
Lactic acid is less harmful than the commonly used vinegar.
The well-known chemical industry uses them to produce propylene glycol, as well as acrylic acid.
