Maca (Lepidium meyenii Walpers, Lepidium peruvianum) comes from the Brassicaceae family. Its common names are: Ayak Chichira, Ayuk Willku, Maca-Maca and Mace, Maino, Peppergrass, Peruvian Ginseng. It is a biennial plant or perennial, up to several centimeters in height, with a reduced stem, leaves with leaves 7–12 cm and a width of 2.5 cm, and a beetroot-like root or bulb with a Diameter from 2 - 8 cm
The root is the usable part of the plant.
