Shelled sunflower seeds are a source of zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, calcium and iron, among others. It should be eaten primarily by lovers of healthy snacks, vegetarians and gourmets - due to the high content of protein, which is a source of energy and a building material for muscles. Sunflower seeds contain a lot of fiber, thanks to which they regulate the work of the digestive system. The seeds are one of the products with the highest content of phytosterols, chemical compounds capable of lowering the concentration of cholesterol in the blood. These seeds also contain folic acid, i.e. vitamin B9. A deficiency can lead to anemia, for example.
Sunflower seeds can be eaten shelled or added to salads (especially good with chicken or tuna salad), granola and breakfast cereals. You can't forget it when baking homemade bread. Sunflower seeds can also be toasted in a dry pan.
