The parsnip (Pastinaca sativa L.) is a biennial plant of the celery family. She comes from Europe and parts of Asia. It used to be as popular as the potato in Poland, but was later supplanted by it.
Little known today, sometimes confused with its cousin parsley, parsnips are an extremely healthy vegetable. Rich, incl. in folic acid, B vitamins, vitamin C, iron, calcium, phosphorus and potassium, does not contain many calories, is recommended for slimming diets.
Parsnips can be prepared in many ways - boil, bake, grill, roast, prepare à la fries, add to soup, meat or salads.
