DESCRIPTION
Guar gum is a natural substance that binds water, increases viscosity and has stabilizing properties. It is a powder with good solubility in water that forms a drug solution. It is obtained from the endosperm of the seeds of the Cyamopsis tetragonoloba plant, which is a member of the Fabaceae family. It grows in India and Pakistan.
Guar gum is widely used in the food industry where it can be labeled as E412. This rubber is also used in the paper and textile industries. It binds cellulose fibers and is used to coat the paper. In fabric production it is used as a paste thickener for color printing. It is also used as an electrolyte thickener in batteries, adhesives, pastes and inks.
The substance is not classified as hazardous according to GHS criteria.
