Acetic acid can be used in the manufacture of rayon, ribbons, foils and for descaling. In the form of a one percent solution, it is used as a component of buffered solutions. It is also a solvent in the refining of terephthalic acid used in the large-scale manufacture of poly-, e.g. Acetic acid.
