Lemons are a species of plant in the Rutaceae family, most likely created by crossing a lime with a lemon. This sour-tasting fruit originated in eastern China but is no longer found in the wild or as a cultivated plant in these areas. Lemons probably came to Europe from Arab merchants in the Middle Ages.
Famous for their exceptional vitamin C content, these citrus fruits are a remarkable source of vitamins and minerals.
