Pine nuts are coniferous seeds of pines that can be found in parks and gardens in Poland. However, store shelf nuts come from Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Italy.
Pine nuts are a source of a large amount of nutrients. These include B vitamins, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin A, fiber, minerals such as zinc, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, calcium and valuable fatty acids (saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated). > The pinolenic acid contained in nuts regulates blood pressure, reduces the risk of arteriosclerosis and also helps with weight loss
Pine nuts are primarily used to make Italian pesto, which also includes basil, parmesan, garlic and olive oil. Pine nuts also work well as an ingredient in sauces served as an accompaniment to pasta.
