DESCRIPTION
Red organic lentils are brown lentils without the shell. By peeling the red lentils, the body absorbs them better. Red lentils tend to overcook, so they're best added to soups, stews, and hearty snacks. It is an important part of the diet of vegans and vegetarians as it is an 85% source of digestible protein. It is high in minerals, including potassium to help maintain healthy blood pressure and phosphorus to help regulate metabolism. Lentils are also high in fiber, which is why people on a slimming diet like to reach for them.
Red lentils are grown in Asia, America, Africa, Australia and the Mediterranean regions of Europe.
PREPARATION
Cook the previously washed lentils proportionately 1 : 2 (1 portion of lentils to 2 portions of water) for about 25 minutes. At the end of the cooking time, season with salt.
