Asafoetida (ind. hung)
is a root-derived substance of Rhizome Foul Lighter (Ferula assa-foetida), an essential spice in Indian cuisine. This gum resin has a distinctive, strong odor, similar to onions or garlic. Despite its rather repulsive name (it's called devil's dung or stench in Poland), it adds a wonderful aroma to Indian dishes. Importantly, when added to a dish, the strong odor disappears, leaving a unique Indian flavor.
Cook:
It is used as a flavor enhancer. It is an excellent complement to dishes based on curry and turmeric. In the Indian version, it is most often combined in the form of "pappu" with fruits / vegetables such as mango, dosakaya, tomato. The taste of dishes with asafoetida is harmonious and balanced.
Storage:
A notice! Asafoetida powder must be kept in an airtight container because of its intense odor. Otherwise, products nearby may take it.
