The syrup is commonly used in cooking as a sweet-tasting syrup. The most famous use of maple syrup is to pour it over pancakes, the traditional American fluffy pancakes. Perfect as a topping for ice cream or waffles, as the main ingredient in marinades and as a substitute for honey.
The syrup is obtained from maple, mainly of the following species: sugar, silver, red and black. For a maple to be suitable for syrup production, it should be 30-40 years old. It contains B vitamins, manganese, zinc and magnesium.
