Cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil is one of the most valuable vegetable oils. It is characterized by a dark green and even brown color and a unique, slightly nutty taste and smell. Although it has only been relatively popular on the Polish food market for a relatively short time, pumpkin seed oil was pressed as early as the 17th century. This product comes from the historical state of Styria, which occupied the territory of present-day Austria and Slovenia.
Pumpkin seed oil is not only a tasty addition to numerous dishes, but above all a true treasure trove of valuable nutrients, vitamins and minerals for health. At this point, however, we should point out the significant content of unsaturated fatty acids (among which we distinguish oleic and linoleic acid) and tocopherols and phytosterols necessary for the proper functioning of our circulatory system. It is also worth knowing that, despite the fact that it is a valuable source of fatty acids, this oil is notable for its unfavorable ratio. This means that pumpkin seed oil contains a large amount of omega-6 fatty acids and a small amount of omega-3 fatty acids. Therefore, when introducing this product into your diet, remember to ensure an adequate supply of foods that are a rich source of unsaturated fatty acids from the omega-3 fatty acid group ( including sea fish and seafood) . Interestingly, pumpkin seed oil is also characterized by a high concentration of vitamins in its composition. This product is an excellent source of both B vitamins and vitamins A, C, D and E. The minerals contained in this oil are also important for our health. Research shows that it is able to provide our bodies with zinc, selenium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and sodium.
Pumpkin seed oil has not only been used in our kitchen and in natural medicine for many years. It is important to know that it is a common component of cosmetic treatments aimed at improving the condition of the hair and skin.
