- Addition to salty dishes
Vanilla originated in the tropical forests of South and Central America but is now grown in many places around the world.
In the kitchen it is mainly used as an aromatic addition to desserts, but it can also be used in savory dishes such as fish and shellfish sauces and in small amounts in veal dishes. The pulp in the vanilla bean can be added to mousses, creams, ice cream and puddings. Whole sticks are put into drinks or sauces, then taken out, dried and reused 3-4 times.
