Propolis is a natural resinous substance with a characteristic smell. It is made with the help of bees, which collect resin from the buds and young shoots of trees. Due to the completely natural origin of the product, its color can vary from red to orange or brown to grey. Typically, propolis is made up of 50% resinous matter, 30% beeswax, 10% aromatic oils and 5% pollen (composition may vary by season and region). Pieces of propolis can be used to make homemade ointments, drops and creams. It contains flavonoids, terpenoids and phenolic acids, as well as numerous compounds with powerful antioxidant effects that help reduce the harmful effects of free radicals. Ointments made with this raw material will help regenerate the epidermis.
