Red lentils are not only widespread in vegan and vegetarian cuisine. We can easily make both a nutritious soup and a delicious pasta sauce from it. Lentils are also great for COOKING vegetable casseroles, vegan pies, homemade sandwich pastes and meatless burgers. Red lentils are super easy to prepare and are also very tasty. It is therefore worth using them in a variety of ways in our kitchen.
When COOKING lentils, there is no need to pre-soak them.
Lentils are cooked for 15-20 minutes (older seeds up to an hour). The water should cover everything.
It is absorbed when cooking. Lentils can be slightly salted at the end of cooking. Store in a dark, cool place. It should be in a tightly sealed package. We can keep it in this form for up to a year. Lentil seeds may fade over time, but this does not affect the taste or nutritional value. Cooked lentils need to be refrigerated. You can keep it there for up to a week. Lentils can also be frozen, but may crumble when thawed.
